Spectacular 1950s heavy weight, hand painted, cotton barkcloth in a fab Mid Century Mod design.
This textile sports abstract dancing, running and posing, human figures in a mod Eames Era fabric.
An iconic 50s color palate featuring pink, green, chocolate, and metallic gold, makes this a design you won't soon forget!
A creamy white ground provides the perfect backdrop to make this exceptional design pop.
A perfect "statement piece" for accent pillows, handbags, or framed and hung as textile art.
Selvage Edge reads:" Hand Print Scarabande"
Interestingly, the term Scarabande evolved from a Spanish dance with Arab influences, danced by a lively double line of couples with castanets. A dance called zarabanda is first mentioned in 1539 in Central America in the poem Vida y tiempo de Maricastaña, written in Panama by Fernando de Guzmán Mejía.
Very Good Used Vintage Condition
This barkcloth started life as a drapery that has been carefully deconstructed, freshly laundered, and pressed.
There are small areas of faint soiling, at the selvage edges, and where the pleats were from when it was a drapery.
I did not launder this fabric as it is hand painted and should be Dry Cleaned Only.
Dry Cleaning should remove any soiling.
No Sun Damage to Dry Rot,
